Work due to commence at Stranmillis College

Woodvale have been appointed to undertake the refurbishment of the Grade B1 listed Stranmillis House. Stranmillis House is situated within the campus of Stranmillis University College within a designated conservation area in South Belfast.

The building, designed by Lanyon and Lynn, dates from 1857 – 8 and is a Jacobean style mansion house with decorative stonework parapets and carved stonework panels.

The project’s main aim is to provide accessibility to all users throughout the building principally through provision of an external entrance ramp and an internal lift. Relocation of the front steps allows the skilful integration of the new ramp into the front elevation composition.

Insertion of the new lift into the existing lift shaft will require complex structural alteration works and working to very tight tolerances within the confines of the existing building.

We are excited to be working on this historic building which forms a focal point of the whole campus.
