Strabane Academy – Phase 1
This Education sector project was a complex, multi phased large scale new two storey build, requiring extensive civils, and detailed phasing & decant accommodation on a live school site. Phase 1 included creating a temp entrance, establishing site boundaries with areas for buses and car parking, construction of hockey pitch & tennis courts, construction of new school buildings & provision of car parking & bus areas prior to school decant in adherence to the Department of Education, School Building Handbooks.
The school was constructed on the existing Derry Road campus site with associated demolitions and site works. The school remained fully operational during the construction period.
The school building extends to approximately 10, 000 m² over two storey on the existing site campus of 7 hectares to accommodate new buildings including schools administration, School Meals Accommodation, Learning resource centre, staff areas and information technology at ground floor, the first floor level comprised of School library, 6th form accommodation and science classrooms, sports facilities including No1 Hockey pitch, No2 rugby pitches and 5 no tennis courts and car parking / bus areas for 700 pupils.
This project has been constructed to BREEAM Excellent accreditation.
