New Project – Belfast City Cemetery Heritage Visitor Centre
We are pleased to announce that work has commenced on site for the Belfast City Cemetery Heritage Visitor Centre.
The works include construction of a new purpose-built, permanent Visitor Centre on the site of the existing Service Yard comprising of bespoke brick, featured glazing & Rheinzinc Patina line zinc ‘flat look’ in diagonal
arrangement to new roofs and centre building encapsulated with granite walls & woven stainless steel fencing.
Clarke Restoration & Metalcast N.I. Ltd have been appointed to undertake significant heritage restoration of Grade B1 listed classical Victorian stonework & wrought Iron works.
Key features for restoration include:- The Mortuary Chapel, The Central Steps,Foxes Lodge,Jewish Cemetery, cast iron Victorian Drinking Fountain, large cast iron Victorian fountain, Central vaults & wrought iron work railings.
The Cemetery is a historic landmark, dating back to 1869 – it is the resting place of many of the city’s great & good.
We look forward to working together with WDR & RT Taggart, Alistair Coey Architects, Bruce Shaw Naylor Devlin, Doran Consulting and McAdam Design to deliver this prestige centre piece to Belfast City Cemetery for our client
Belfast City Council.
