As a family run Company, we strive to have a positive effect on the society and our surroundings. Corporate Social Responsibility is reflected in our core values, how we treat our people, our environment and our community. We are proud of our reputation to do things the right way, the Woodvale Way.

Our people are at the core of our business. We have a low staff turnover, with many serving over 40 years growing from apprenticeship through to Senior Site Manager. We have created an environment where motivated employees can reach their professional goals. We actively support participation in learning new activities and the application of new knowledge and skills on the job. We also advocate and encourage self-review and continuous improvement.

Training and Development
As finalists in the CEF Training Award 2018, our vision is to be the chosen contractor of excellence for our Clients with highly qualified and motivated employees. A Company Training and Development Plan supports equality of opportunity for all our people, educating and inspiring them to reach their professional goals.

Our commitment to training and development is demonstrated through our CIOB chartership programme, with which, in 2018, we set an international record for the largest numbers of conferees from a single company graduating consecutively.
We continually enhance our employees’ skills and development with high-quality accessible education and training and continued professional development opportunities to support our company’s vision. Alongside the provision of staff training, we proactively encourage certification and qualification of labour only subcontractors, third year placements and apprentices.

We engage in the local community supporting events and causes such as fun runs, “strictly come dancing”, charity auctions and local school events i.e. poster competitions for site hoarding. We have strong relationships with local Schools, Regional Colleges and Universities, providing site visits, construction career workshops and work experience opportunities. We believe the community youth are the future of the construction industry and we are keen to promote and encourage careers in construction to address skills shortages (especially in traditional heritage trades).

Economic Impact
The construction of any new build presents unique windows that open up local opportunities. We are committed to employing local supply chain members and operate a Fair Payment Charter.

We are a sustainable conscious company endeavouring to protect environmental resources for future generations. We construct new buildings with care and consideration for local neighbours and landscapes, and strive at all times to conserve natural resources.

Social Impact
We appoint a dedicated Social Impact Manager to ensure that we excel in terms of meeting social clauses.

We are proud to have won the RICS Social Impact Award 2020 for Strabane Academy.

We have extensive experience of the Buy Social approach, having piloted a scheme with the Strategic Investment Board (highly commended in the 2018 Go Awards). We engage with local employment providers to deliver the specified employment weeks established in our project Recruitment and Training Plans. We are conscious of the transition from unemployment or education to workplace and we endeavour to support people through this phase by providing training, workplace mentors and literacy and numeracy support.
